Along with creating our products we are also helping to keep the earth a greener place by taking other materials that would potentially be thrown into a land fill, breaking it down and using to create our products. We are recognized by Recyc-Quebec as a recycler for EPS and Poly Styrene.
We adhere to a program for recycling in St-Eustache in a partnership with Tricentris centers for waste treatment. We also have our own repelletizing line to recycle EPS and PS in house. Which we then reintroduce to our process for creating our mouldings.
Uniko Extrusion has founded a second company dedicated to recycling EPS ( Expanded Polystyrene) which has become such a problem in our day and age due to the fact that most of this waste ends up in the landfill.
The pressing issue is that EPS is 95% air and is not cost effective when it comes to transporting this waste for recycling. We have made a machine available called the UD-20-80 which compacts this EPS and extrudes EPS into ingot which removes the air and decreases the storage area needed to transport the material to proper recyclers. We sell or rent this machine to our customers and other companies where they have to pay to have this material removed. We will pay .10 ¢ per kilo to the companies in order to promote recycling of EPS. Obviously not everyone has the volume to have one of these machines but we also take shipments of bags and boxes of EPS to be recycled as well.
